Before watching them create an equation that relates the four quantities (a trip time of 3 seconds, a starting location of 4 meters, and unknown velocity and end location), encourage your students to try to generalize their method.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>[Pause the video at 2:44]<\/strong>\u00a0ET and Haleemah are generalizing Hector\u2019s end location when he starts at 4 meters, rides for 3 seconds, and has a velocity of v meters per second. ET writes 3v for the end location. Haleemah says she thinks it should be 3v + 4.
